Armin Hofmann







-Armin Hofmann is a Swiss graphic designer and an inspiring design teacher.
-In 1947 when he was 26, he started his career as a teacher at The Allgemeine Gewerbeschule Basel School of Art and Crafts.
- He continued to teach at the Philadelphia College of Art, and Yale University.
-Made a textbook in 1965 called the Graphic Design Manual, and it's revised form is still available and being published today.
-His work is generally based on the fundamentals of design: point, shape, and line, though he also uses text and colour.


Seymour Chwast







-American Graphic designer, illustrator, and co-founder of Push Pin Studios.
-Graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1951 from Cooper Union.
-Referred to as 'the left-handed designer'
-Font designer of Chwast Buffalo, Fofucha, Loose Caboose NF, and Weedy Beasties NF.
-A member of the AGI (Alliance Graphique International.)


Shigeo Fukuda 







-A celebrated 20th century graphic artist, sculptor, and poster designer.
-Born 1932, into a family of toy manufacturers. 
-Fellow designer Paul Rand helped bring him into the limelight by introducing some of his works into the IBM Gallery in New York.
-His work is heavily influenced by minimalist Swiss design and Takashi Kohno, who heralded a new era of visual expressionism.
-The first Japanese designer to be inducted into the Art Director's Club Hall of Fame.



John Maeda








-An American executive, technologist, and graphic designer.
-Born and raised in Seattle, he later enrolled in The Institute of Technology in Massachusetts to study computer science and electrical engineering, receiving master degrees in both.
-Maeda moved to Japan and attended the University of Tsukuba Institute for art and design classes and earned a  Doctor of Philosophy in Design Science.
-Founded the Aesthetics and Computation Group (ACG) which united a variety of design-based interests.
-His work is influenced by Paul Rand and Muriel Cooper, and seeks to unite design and technology.




Anton Stankowski







-A German graphic designer, photographer, and painter.
-Developed an original Theory of Design.
-Worked as a church painter until 1927, when he attended Folkwang University of the Arts.
-Established the Stankowski foundation in 1983 to make awards for other designers and their achievements.
-Received the Henry Graf Kessler award from the German Artist Foundation for his life work.
